The Process

  1. When you receive an examination/audit notice, immediately email it to tony@silva.tax. We will review it and then call you to discuss next steps.

  2. Once we have a strategy, we will email you an IRS Power of Attorney form so that we can represent you before the IRS. This POA means that we handle all the phone calls and in-person appointments on your behalf. While we have an active POA on file with the IRS, the IRS is prohibited from contacting you regarding the audit. If they do, let us know immediately so we can file the appropriate complaint forms with IRS management.

  3. Once our POA is active, we will work with the examiner to resolve your case. There are strict deadlines, so when we request documents from you that the examiner has requested, please provide us with accurate response times so that we can plan accordingly on our end. If we miss a deadline, we risk have the examination closed and finalized, which can increase your tax debt.

As a note, your IRS Audit Protection plan only covers our fees related to an audit, meaning if you're audited with an active plan, you pay zero audit fees related to our professional fees. The plan does not cover tax debt relief, or penalties, interest, and additional taxes that are assessed to you or your business.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at tony@silva.tax.
